After several years I've finished remodeling my studio. I decided to do the work myself (thanks, Youtube!) and I'm happy with the results - it's a big improvement. Now I can get back to painting!
48 in. x 36 in.
Acrylic on canvas
Completed May, 2018
I had a large blank 48”x 36” canvas sitting in my studio for about two years, and held off painting on it because I felt that I wanted to save it for something special. When Prince died unexpectedly I knew immediately that this is what I had been saving this canvas for. To me, what made Prince special was the fact that he never moved away from Minnesota.I was born in Minnesota and have lived my whole life in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and for all that time Prince has been a part of life here.I also admire him for knowing what he wanted to do, and not letting record companies or anyone else compromise his vision. My painting of Prince is an expression of the sadness and loss that the world was feeling when he left us too soon.
I have several pieces of art on display through the Artists In Storefronts project in Minneapolis, which runs from June 1 to September 8, 2013. My work is on display at Peninsula restaurant, 2608 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. There will be an opening reception for Artists in Storefronts on June 1, 6-10 pm at the Black Forest Inn.
